Episode details

Happy Monday! Welcome back to Acting Class Daily and Class Four of The Elysium Aesthetic. It’s the fourth week of the month, which means our focus is on our Craft.

“What if we can?”

There are real issues, real worries, real insecurities we face as actors.

Can we actually transform into another character?

Can we truly know what our character knows?

Can we consistently react with our character’s instincts?

We know what it’s like to be a real person … we live inside ourselves all the time!

When we play pretend, we’re telling ourselves we can’t do it for real.

But … what if we can?

What if we can actually do something about it?

What if we can do something to become more … to evolve … to transform our very instincts into those of the character?

This week we’re preparing ourselves for any unknown, unleashing our Olympic Spirit into something … delicious.

Trait Work.

The Olympic Spirit

We’ll use this space to recap each week’s personal crafting work - and share the discoveries and challenges of teammates within our community.

Personal Crafting Work

Trait Work

As the next step in your Rehearsal Report:

  1. Taste any Personal Knowing from your Rehearsal Report.

  2. Determine which trait would make “that button-pusher” cause “that behavior.”

  3. Modify the trait to capture its taste. Add it to your Trait List.

  4. Complete your Trait List using all remaining Personal Knowings.

  5. Prioritize traits by placing those furthest from your own instincts towards the top of your list.

Nature Transformation

Turning the discoveries of personal knowings into the transformation of character instinct:

  1. Taste each trait for 3 memory portals. Add them to your Memory List.

  2. Determine your Character Transformation Timeline.

  3. Design “delicious daily doings” that maximize excitement and efficiency.

  4. Test and sharpen nightly the “amount of weight” + “exercise excitement” ensuring you maximize your time in the gym.

Put It Up On The Wall!

We had a tradition of capturing quotes on the Elysium walls. The torch has now been passed to the digital realm. We’ll use this space to highlight quotes and translate those terms we tend to throw around.

Today’s Quote(s)

'‘Unlimited Powwwweeerrr!”

“the intellect in the sidecar … with the funny, little helmet.”

Sample the ‘stacks.

In honor of our friends at The Sample (who knew the coolest newsletters to send me … and here we are today!) each Monday I’ll highlight a Substacker that’s tickling the tastebuds:
